Derwent are delighted to announce the addition of blocks to their Inktense range. Speaking about the latest introduction Leah Lister, Derwent Marketing Manager said ‘Our Inktense range is unique and very popular. This new media combines the vibrancy and versatility of Inktense with the expressive freedom of blocks and will provide artists with an even greater range of creative possibilities.’

Dry Derwent Inktense delivers pure vibrant colour but when completely washed out it is transformed into a translucent ink-like paint which, when dry, can be worked over. The chunky Derwent Inktense Blocks will bring a colourful and exciting dimension to drawing and painting. Water-soluble they can be used wet or dry, on their own or with other media – all to flamboyant effect.

Extremely versatile Derwent Inktense Blocks are ideal for creating broad swathes of colour in a wide variety of ways; use them as pans of paint and lift colour off with a wet paintbrush, dip in water and apply directly to the paper, use dry on their side or apply directly to wet paper for instant intense colour.

The new blocks complement the rest of the Inktense range perfectly opening up an exciting world of colour and artistic style. The new blocks are ideal for quick, expansive areas of colour. The pencils are perfect for fine and intricate detail, while the non-soluble outliner pencil allows outlines to be drawn that are permanent, even when water is applied.

Clever new accessories will also make working with Derwent Inktense Blocks more fun and less messy! The Derwent “Grate‘n’Shake” allows you to mix paint and create new colours by grating Inktense Blocks into water and then shaking the container to mix the pigment.
Derwent Grippers are the perfect way to keep the block secure and your hands clean when using them with water

The new Derwent Inktense Blocks are available in 24 jewel-like colours. They are ideal for loose, expressive and colourful landscapes and still life.

They can also be used on fabric to create stunning silk paintings and quilts.

Derwent Inktense Blocks are available individually and in assortments of 12 and 24 from all good art shops.
